Law & Order

Serve, Protect, and Reassure. That is what the Jamaica Constabulary Force and law enforcement bodies in Jamaica seek to do. It is important for a society to feel confident in their security system and be reassured that they are being protected. Like other countries, Jamaica is no exception when it comes to the demands and rights of the citizens concerning their security. The country has had its share of difficulties as it struggles like other countries to grow, prosper, and stabilize. However, Jamaicans, and visitors alike, have been able to enjoy a slow paced and steady lifestyle due to the diligence of the law enforcement bodies and concerned citizens of Jamaica who strive daily to make the security system work. While it is harder to maintain security in some parts of the country, the consensus is that security is extremely important for not only the citizens and visitors, but for the general well being of the country. It is the hope of everyone that some day Jamaica can enjoy a crime free society.

The Jamaica Constabulary (JCF) is the most active body in law and order with such services as 119 for Police, Sea, and Air Rescue, 811 for Operation Kingfish and 110 for Fire and Ambulance. The Jamaica Constabulary Force also provides assistance for emergencies such as fire and ambulance. Another security body that plays a role in the safety of our country is the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF). They perform military services and assist the police with civil disobedience as well as operate a Coast Guard. The Correctional Services deals with the rehabilitation of offenders. The island's Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) assists the police in all areas of policing. These units work in collaboration with each other and invariably have the same goals. The men and women of these organizations work tirelessly and boldly to protect our communities on an ongoing basis. The Ministry of National Security oversees these organizations and is responsible for the overall security of Jamaica.
